Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Hello from your favorite miscreant, vagabond, & scoundrel. (Well, maybe not your favorite.)

Finally a change in the weather. This has definitely been a tough year for the wineries and patios but here’s to hoping we have a nice fall to make up for the torrid summer.

Last weekend was quite exciting with good crowds in Soulard and on the Shawnee Wine Trail. The old guy is still keeping the youngsters entertained.

If you didn’t hear- my good friend Steve Reeb made quite a stir in St Louis with his ode to the Cards/Reds brawl- here’s the link to the KSDK video of him playing it live at Sullivan’s in Belleville – http://www.ksdk.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=571933108001

Some upcoming dates that you’ll want to be aware of- August *21- Maggie O’s- St Louis *22nd Starview Vineyards – Shawnee Wine Trail, *26th-Music Under the Stars- Hannibal, *27th Candicci’s-Ballwin, *28th Aeries-Grafton, and September dates include *4th Aeries, *5th The Loading Dock, *9th The Shanti-Soulard, *10th Fischer’s, *24th The Wine Rack (Poplar Bluff) *25th Cajun’s Wharf (Little Rock)

Don’t forget to order those downloads and ringtones from my Reverbnation online store – http://www.reverbnation.com/store/index/artist_526206
they make great graduation gifts.

August 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th

Greetings fans, friends, fiends and followers. August continues to heat up with more live music than you can shake a stick at. I’ve also finally gotten a copy of the mp3 from KDHX radio’s Local Artist Spotlight that featured me and my music. I”m including it as an attachment because I know some of you didn’t get to hear it. It was broadcast twice daily during the last week of May and first week of June and I only caught it once myself. Anyway I have to do this

Lots of excitement this week and several short road trips coming up in the next couple of months including Springfield, IL, several wineries near Carbondale, a winery in Cape Girardeau, Mojos RME in Davenport, IA and more. On a down note, Houlihan’s is dropping their entertainment budget for a month or more so I”ll be missing my regular appearance there this month. I do, however, have another trip to “the grocery store” this week and if you haven’t been it’s just a neat place. Who ever heard of a grocery store selling alcohol by the drink and having folks walking up and down the aisles looking for cereal with a beer in their hand while live music is playing upstairs.? Also this week I’ll be at one of the more scenic spots in the area- Aeries in Grafton.

Upcoming dates are Thurs Aug 12th -The Shanti-Soulard, Saturday Aug 14th -Blue Sky Vineyards in Makanda, Fri Aug 20th Seven in Belleville, Sat Aug 21 Greenville Campgrounds 2-6 (private party) and Maggie O’Briens STL 10-2, Sun 22nd Starview Vineyards in Cobden, Thurs Aug 26 Music Under The Stars Hannibal, MO, Fri 27th Candicci’s Ballwin, Sat 28th Aeries

This Week:

Thursday Aug 5th
Norb Andy’s Tabarin
Springfield, IL 9 pm

Friday Aug 6th
Schnuck’s Culinaria
Downtown STL 4 pm

Saturday Aug 7th
Aeries Winery
Grafton, IL 7 pm

Sunday Aug 8th
Candicci’s Italian Restaurant & Bar
Ballwin, MO 5:30 pm

I hope to see many of you out and about enjoying yourselves despite the heat.

A staff member at Indie Music Report was checking one of my secondary sites and mentioned that he liked Don’t Bother from my first CD “Golden” so I’ve made it this week’s ringtone- available for a trifling $2.49 and download it for just $0.51!

May Day Celebrations 2010

I’ll be closing April and beginning May with shows in St Louis and Fairview Hts. I hope we get some good weather again soon.

I’d like to ask a favor of all of you who have done some listening to Golden and Eons. Several opportunities have arisen recently that require me to submit one to three of my songs for possible airplay, festival performances, talent agency roster spots and even film scores. It’s difficult for me to judge the appeal of some of my songs over others since I’ve spent so much time writing, performing and listening to all of them.

What I have in mind is getting some input from you my friends, fans and cohorts. If you have any particular song(s) that you like from either of my albums please send me a note with one to three titles and I’ll use your suggestions to make a short list of songs to enter for specific situations.

Thanks in advance!

I found a couple of Sacagawea dollars in my tips last week and for some reason it reminded me of the folks who once left some expired Dairy Queen coupons for me. Obviously the Sac Bucks are worth money but they’re about as unusual in a tip jar as two-dollar bills (a few each year) and nearly as rare as the coveted “expired coupon”.

This week’s ringtone comes courtesy of the fertile (or futile) mind of Stephen Koritta and is track nine from Eons. It has a bit of a CSNY sound to it and would make an excellent ringtone so without further ado- Cliff Diver and the download is just $0.51 wooo hooooo!

Friday April 30th

Saturday May 1st

Ides of April

The Ides of April 2010

Bonjour Monsieurs and Monsieurettes,

I hope this beautiful weather isn’t getting you down too much. Remember to get those taxes finished and turned in before mid-night on Thursday.

It’s been great to see so many of you out over the past couple of weeks! Remember if you can’t get out you can always acquire BS merchandise to keep you company at home. There’s a special on my website now Bud’s Site where you can get a copy of “Eons” and a “BS 2009 Tour Shirt” for just $16! Imagine how snazzy you’ll look as you walk around town with a boombox held up to your ear (Eons playing) sporting a tan T-shirt with some writing on it. Yeeeehaaaaaa! (boombox not included)

Blue Sky Vineyards in Makanda (near Carbondale) was fabulous last week. They want to schedule me again if we can match up on open dates but even if I’m not there, it’s worth visiting.

This Saturday is the annual William McAtee Memorial Concert at 1st United Methodist in Godfrey. William and I played together in various groups for nearly nineteen years and his sons Jason and Jacob are carrying on his legacy by being excellent musicians and great guys. Bassist/vocalist Rob McDonnell who played with Willie and me in The Stingers will be on hand for most if not all of the night. Various music groups and a good time. Donations will be accepted to go toward a ball field to be built on the church property in William’s name.

This week’s new ringtone was one of Lance’s picks- Over You it’s the album opener on “Eons” and starts with a nice little arpeggiated guitar hook. The corresponding download is on sale this week for only $0.51 so you can get the ringtone ($2.49) and the download for a total of $3.00. I don’t set the price on the ringtones but by golly I can get you a break on the download! What a discount! It certainly pays to have friends in high places.

One of my gigs this week is at a St Louis club that’s been around for many years, has a slight connection to Alton and is mentioned in one of my songs on “Eons”. What song is it? If you’re the first person to answer this one correctly I’ll owe you a drink next time I see you at a show.

I may have another gig this week- The Loading Dock is considering having me play Saturday afternoon 1-5 if the weather is nice-

We shall see.

This week’s orchestrating includes-

Friday April 16th
Maggie O’Briens
St Louis, MO 10 pm

http://www.maggieobriens.com/

Saturday April 17th
William McAtee Memorial Concert
1st United Methodist Church
Godfrey, IL (Airport Rd) doors at 5:30 pm

Thanks for being such a big part of my musical adventures,

Bud

I’ve been feeling so much older
Frame me and hang me on the wall
I’ve seen you fall into the same trap
This thing is happening to us all…

If you’d like to be removed from this mailing list… and who wouldn’t? please send a self-addressed stamped envelope to twelve of your friends (including me) and sit back and watch what happens.

NCAA Sweet Sixteen

Sweet Sixteen & March 26th, 28th, 29th

The NCAA Sweet Sixteen invades St Louis this weekend and I’ll be there as well. Tournament games are scheduled at The Edward Jones Dome Friday night and Sunday afternoon and I’ll be slinging tunes right next door at J F Sanfilippos on Friday starting at 8 pm.

After all that excitement I”m off to Chicago for dates at Phyllis’ Musical Inn (Sunday) and The Elbo Room (Monday) These are all-original music shows.

Looking ahead I’ve got another road trip – to Poplar Bluff, MO and Makanda, IL on April 9 & 10 and two Sundays (April 4th and 11th) at The Loading Dock in Grafton, IL.

Also, back by popular demand- The Floyd Duncan Orchestra will be making an appearance or two this summer.

Thanks to everyone that tuned in to KMOX last Thursday evening to hear the St Louis Sound Scene’s Thursday Night Music Club segment of the John Carney show. I was among the local artists featured. http://www.kmox.com/topic/play_window.php?audioType=Episode&audioId=4485397

I also am featured this month in the on-line music magazine and radio station Junior’s Cave http://www.juniorscave.com/Bud-Summers.html

Friday March 26th

And there ain’t no road just like it,
Anywhere I’ve found.
Runnin’ south on Lake Shore Drive,
Headin’ into town.
Just snakin’ on by on LSD,
Friday night trouble bound.

Well Jesus just left Chicago and he’s bound for New Orleans.
yeah yeah
Workin’ from one end to the other and all points in between.

Have a great week and I look forward to the next time I’ll see you.

If you’d like to be removed from this email list please don’t hesitate to ask for a refund of the time you’ve spent reading them.
