Working ’round the clock

You Big Boss man

Oh, you ain’t so big

Jimmy Reed

If you’d like to be removed from this email list you really should do something about it before you forget because something else came up and you forgot and well it wasn’t really that important anyway did I leave the stove on I was going to check it but I was in a hurry cause I had to stop for gas I have to get my drivers license renewed and I hope that it’s a better picture because I’ve hated having to show this one to the nice police officers every time they pull me over and gosh I need to pay that parking ticket before the fine doubles it’s just awful what they charge these days for a ticket and how do they expect me to be able to afford that especially since I haven’t had a raise in the last five years and the price of everything just keeps going up …..

That David played, and it pleased the Lord

But you don’t really care for music, do you?

It goes like this The fourth, the fifth

If you prefer to have your email address removed from this music update list don’t you think you should have asked a long time ago?And if you didn’t – well who’s fault is that anyway? Apology accepted.

August 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th

Greetings fans, friends, fiends and followers. August continues to heat up with more live music than you can shake a stick at. I’ve also finally gotten a copy of the mp3 from KDHX radio’s Local Artist Spotlight that featured me and my music. I”m including it as an attachment because I know some of you didn’t get to hear it. It was broadcast twice daily during the last week of May and first week of June and I only caught it once myself. Anyway I have to do this

Lots of excitement this week and several short road trips coming up in the next couple of months including Springfield, IL, several wineries near Carbondale, a winery in Cape Girardeau, Mojos RME in Davenport, IA and more. On a down note, Houlihan’s is dropping their entertainment budget for a month or more so I”ll be missing my regular appearance there this month. I do, however, have another trip to “the grocery store” this week and if you haven’t been it’s just a neat place. Who ever heard of a grocery store selling alcohol by the drink and having folks walking up and down the aisles looking for cereal with a beer in their hand while live music is playing upstairs.? Also this week I’ll be at one of the more scenic spots in the area- Aeries in Grafton.

Upcoming dates are Thurs Aug 12th -The Shanti-Soulard, Saturday Aug 14th -Blue Sky Vineyards in Makanda, Fri Aug 20th Seven in Belleville, Sat Aug 21 Greenville Campgrounds 2-6 (private party) and Maggie O’Briens STL 10-2, Sun 22nd Starview Vineyards in Cobden, Thurs Aug 26 Music Under The Stars Hannibal, MO, Fri 27th Candicci’s Ballwin, Sat 28th Aeries

Last week of July 2010

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Greetings one and all- I’ve been away in case you haven’t noticed. I returned from the big Michigan road trip just in time to play seven shows in nine days. They included a return trip to the grocery store (Schnuck’s in downtown STL) a Street Market in Jerseyville, a return to Sevens in Belleville, my regular monthly shows at Houlihan’s in Fairview and in Soulard at The Shanti and an(almost) class reunion at The Piasa Winery in Grafton capped off by my 4th trip to play at a Southern Illinois Winery in the Carbondale area this season.

I’ll be closing out the month with just a couple of shows this week- the street market in J’ville is pretty good- I just sit back and play a few tunes, talk to people who came by and sell a few CDs. Last week I ended up coming home with some very nice tomatoes, peaches and blackberries.

Salut-
This week’s entertainment is coming your way at a fast and furious pace. I’ll regale you with the details momentarily.

In the meantime, I had a great night at Norb Andy’s in Springfield and will be back in August. Saturday’s appearance at The Loading Dock was canceled -as was the Tow Boat Festival- due to high water. Sunday was extremely hot on the veranda at Starview Vineyards but was a good time nonetheless and I’ll be back there in the future as well.

A few notes about this week’s shows- Tuesday is a very loose show with 7 performers scheduled for short sets of original music at the Library in Soulard. This building is a former public library at 7th and Lafayette. They do this every Tuesday.

Saturday afternoon is a combination party and open house. All are invited to attend for food, drinks, live entertainment and to get a look at Bill Horstman’s shop. They do custom doors, windows, countertops etc, and moved to their new location just a few months ago. Bill is also celebrating his 50th birthday this week.

This week’s ringtone is Comin’ Home a nice tune from Golden. As usual, the ringtone is $2.49 and the download is $0.51 what a deal!

May 15th and 16th

Joy to all and I sincerely hope that it was a nice Mother’s Day for all of you mothers out there. I had a fine weekend with the regular crowd shuffling in at the Shanti on Thursday- Steve Reeb sat in for a couple of tunes, Billy Belli stopped to chat, Lenny was in fine form behind the bar, Becky was celebrating her birthday on the other side of the bar… you get the picture. Saturday was a beautiful day at Owl Creek Vineyards in Cobden, IL just outside of Carbondale and included a Chuck siting.

I’ve added some dates for later in the summer – beachfront- Lake Michigan, another Chicago trip, a couple more southern Illinois wine trail dates, a quick run out to Independence, MO and a return to The Rotten Apple in Grafton. Please check Bud’s Site for details.

Ringtone for this week comes from a suggestion by Lance and is track #4 from Eons Summer Sunset be sure to add this to your ever-growing list of ringtones from Bud.

What groundhogs listen to when they’re not looking for their shadows- a little bluesy, a little jazzy, but not too far from the rock.
